After Memorial Day 2007, I noticed how much we as Americans have forgotten about our past and about what it took for this nation to earn our freedoms and our rights that we have to enjoy. About a week later, I remembered that my grandfather served aboard a navy ship. So I did some research on the web and in books to find more information on the USS Grady. Later, through family, we found pictures of my grandfather with the crew, plus pictures of the ship, documents and the battle cruise map of the Grady. I then decided to make a web site for the Grady and my grandfather. This is a way for me to get to know a little more about him and to find out what happen aboard the Grady.
For these reasons, this site is dedicated to George Francis Grady who gave his life in battle. For his heroic action, the US Navy would name a destroyer escort after him. This site is also dedicated to the captain and crew who served and fought in the greatest navy in the world and to my grandfather, Malcolm Stearns, who was one of the brave men aboard this ship.
